Last Layover LLC is an independent software company. We build and publish our own apps for iOS and Android, and we do not take on client work.
Why the name
The last layover is the part of the trip where things are settled: the bill gets split, the receipts get sorted out, the plans for the next one start. It is also the part nobody designs for. That gap is what the studio exists to work on.
We are interested in the unglamorous mechanics of travel — the money, the logistics, the coordination between people who are in different places with different phones and unreliable connections.
How we work
Our apps are local-first. The device is the source of truth, everything works with no connection, and syncing is an optimization rather than a requirement. Where data does leave a device, it leaves encrypted with a key we do not hold.
We do not build accounts we do not need, and we do not collect data we have no use for. It is a smaller business model, and a considerably smaller liability.
